Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Pleskach nets 100th as AIC hockey tops Colonials, 4-1

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-On the strength of three point nights by junior center Blake Peake (Lethbridge, Alb.) and senior left wing Adam Pleskach (Beausejour, Man.), the American International College men's ice hockey team earned a 4-1 victory over Robert Morris on Friday night at the Olympia Ice Center. The Yellow Jackets move to 5-12-3 overall and 2-9-3 in the conference, while the Colonials, who are receiving votes in the latest USCHO poll, drop to 11-7-2 overall and 6-6-1 in the AHA.

Peake opened the scoring at 7:02 in the first period off a pass from classmate and right wing Jon Puskar (Grosse Ile, Mich.) that came on an end-to-end rush. The goal, scored while the teams were skating four-on-four, was Peake's fourth of the season.

Shortly after a too many men on the ice penalty against the Jackets expired, Peake found the back of the net again at 11:29 off of a feed from senior right wing Richard Leitner (Los Alamitos, Calif.) across the front of the net. Pleskach also earned an assist on Peake's fifth goal of the campaign.

Early in the second, the Colonials would pull within one. Off of a turnover at the AIC blue line, senior right wing Adam Brace (Cobden, Ont.) came in on a breakaway and found the back of the net 55 seconds into the period to put Robert Morris on the board, tallying his ninth of the contest.

In the third, AIC would regain the two-goal edge. Peake came in from behind the net and swept a pass into the low slot, where Pleskach was waiting to unload a one-timer for his sixth of the year, which was also his 50th career goal and 100th career point at 2:08.

Pleskach is the second Yellow Jacket to reach triple-digit scoring in the Division I era, and he trails only Guillaume Caron's 117 points for the most in a career since the team elevated to Division I in 1998.

Pleskach added one more late, scoring an empty net goal at 18:50 to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-1 victory over the Colonials. Freshman forward Chris Porter (Stoufville, Ont.) earned the lone assist on Pleskach's seventh goal of the year.

Senior goaltender Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) made 46 saves in net for AIC to improve to 4-10-3, while Robert Morris senior goalie Eric Levine (Wheeling, Ill.) stopped 25 shots in the loss, falling to 10-5-2.

The Yellow Jackets will close out the weekend series with Robert Morris tomorrow afternoon at 3:05 p.m. at the Olympia Ice Center.
