MANCHESTER, N.H. – The American International College field hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision at Saint Anselm College on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest. The Hawks improved to 1-3 overall, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 0-4 overall.
Senior forward
Kristen Angeletti (Wallingford, Conn.) scored her first goal of the season to put AIC on the board at 7:51 in the first half, while sophomore forward
Jenna Masionis (Ashland, Mass.) extended the Yellow Jackets lead to 2-0 at 19:46.
Saint Anselm inched within on at the 25 minute mark when senior forward Kristina Katsikis (Hanover, Mass.) found the back of the net off a pass from junior forward Elizabeth Sears (Danvers, Mass.). Sears dished a pass to Eliza Jalbert (Providence, R.I.) who scored to knot the contest at 2-2 for the Hawks.
Katsikis scored at the 50:43 mark in the contest to give Saint Anselm the 3-2 lead. The Hawks went on to score two more goals to earn the 5-2 victory over AIC.
Senior goalie Megan Sullivan (Braintree, Mass.) earned the win in net for Saint Anselm making fivesaves, while junior goalie
Kori Huffman took the loss with making eight saves.
The Hawks outshot the Yellow Jackets 16-8, while holding a 7-6 advantage in penalty corners.
AIC will travel to New Haven Connecticut on Wednesday afternoon to take on the Southern Connecticut Owls for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest.
