Field Hockey Shutout By Stonehill, 6-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College field hockey team dropped a 6-0 non-conference contest against Stonehill College on Tuesday afternoon at Ronald J. Abdow field. The Yellow Jackets drop to 0-3 overall, while the Skyhawks improve to 1-1 overall.

Sophomore midfielder Nicole Ciccia (Monroe, Conn.) scored the first goal of the contest at 22:29 in the first half to make it a 1-0 game in favor of Stonehill.

The Skyhawks opened the second half by scoring three goals in five minutes to pull away with a 4-0 lead and would earn a 6-0 victory over AIC. Senior forward Brittany Ford (Augusta, Maine) scored a goal and dished out an assist for Stonehill.

The Skyhawks outshot the Yellow Jackest 22-6 and held on to a 9-8 lead in penalty corners.

Senior goalie Kaitlyn Curtis (Acton, Mass.) earned the win in net for the Stonehill making three saves, while sophomore goalie Kori Hufffman (Brattleboro, Vt.) took the loss for the AIC making eight saves.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Manchester, N.H. to take on Saint Anslem College in a 12 p.m. non-conference contest.
