WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The American International College baseball team plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure an 11-8 non-conference win over Nyack College Sunday afternoon to improve to 3-1 for the season. The Warriors fell to 4-3 with the loss.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run homerun off the bat of graduate left fielder Nick Devine (Springfield, Mass.) and tacked on five more in the second to take what appeared to be a commanding 7-0 lead.
The two teams exchanged runs in the third before Nyack pushed six runs across in the top of the fourth to pull within one, 8-7. The Warriors then tied the game in the top of the seventh when Echavarria's sac-fly scored freshman left fielder Phil Erwin (New Durham, N.H.) from third.
