WATERTOWN, Mass. – The American International College men's ice hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision at Bentley University on Friday night. The Falcon's move to 10-12-7 overall in Atlantic Hockey, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 5-22-2 overall and 4-16-2 in conference play.
Bentley scored the first three goals of the contest in a span of 4:22. The first goal of the contest was a 8:05 by sophomore Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo.) while senior Aaron Stonacek (Basehor, Kan.) scored for the Falcons at 10:11. Gensler scored his second goal of the night at 12:27 to give Bentley a 3-0 lead heading into the second period.
Freshman Brett Switzer (Calgary, Alberta) and sophomore Jared Rockord (Skokie, Ill.) scored the Falcon's goals in the second period for a 5-0 lead. Junior defenseman
Nick Grasso (Smithtown, N.Y.) put AIC on the board at 15:57 in the second period off a pass from
Richard Leitner (Los Alamitos, Calif.) and freshman forward
Nick Sandor (Vancouver, B.C.).
Bentley skated away with a 5-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Sophomore goaltender Brandon Komm made 26 saves, while junior goalie
Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) stopped 34 in the loss.
The Falcons outshot AIC 39-27.
The two teams will finish the weekend series tomorrow night at the Olympia Ice Center for a 7:05 p.m. Atlantic Hockey contest.
