SETTING THE SCENE: The American International College football team looks to bounce back from last week's 37-6 loss to New Haven when it once again meets the Chargers, this time with the Northeast-10 Championship on the line in New Haven.

WHAT HAPPENED?: There wasn't a lot that went right for the Yellow Jackets in last week's loss to the Chargers, especially in the first half as untimely penalties and an inability to take advantage of big plays that setup AIC deep in New Haven territory left a lot of points on the field and gave all the momentum to the Chargers in the early going. AIC's defense was also ineffective in the first half before turning things around in the second.

NE-10 TITLES: AIC won the Northeast-10 championship in 2008 with a perfect 8-0 conference record. The Yellow Jackets earned a share of the conference title in 2010, finishing in a four-way tie for first with Bentley, New Haven and Southern Connecticut. Each had a league record of 6-2.

PLAYING FOR THE CROWN: AIC won a pair of conference championship games in the former Eastern Football Conference, defeating C.W. Post 20-10 in 2000 and also beating the Pioneers 41-20 in 1999. The Yellow Jackets lost to Albany each of the previous two seasons in the EFC title game, being edged 25-24 in 1998 and 27-20 in 1997. The Yellow Jackets were the division champion in each of those four years.

NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS: AIC is once again ranked eighth in the latest Super Region I Rankings, trailing Shepherd and Charleston (W.Va.) for the sixth and final berth in the NCAA Championship Tournament. The Yellow Jackets need a win at New Haven and some help if they hope to make their second-ever NCAA tournament appearance.

IN THE POLL: AIC is receiving votes in the AFCA Coaches' Poll for the fourth straight week, while New Haven is ranked third in the AFCA poll and is ranked sixth in the D2Football.com Media Poll.
