GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The American International College field hockey team dropped a 2-0 Northeast-10 match at Adelphi University Tuesday night. The Panthers improved to 7-10 overall and 6-3 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 3-13 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
Senior forward Alyssa Conklin (Courtlandt Manor, N.Y.) scored 12:44 into the game with the only goal Adelphi would need, and junior midfielder Jamie Ackerman (Nesconset, N.Y.) added an insurance goal off a penalty corner in the 54th-minute for the 2-0 final.
Senior goalkeeper Kristine Puzio (Holbrook, N.Y.) tallied seven saves to earn the victory in goal for the Panthers, while junior goalkeeper
Kori Huffman (Brattleboro, Vt.) had two saves in taking the loss for AIC.
The Yellow Jackets lost despite outshooting the Panthers 12-7 and having a 7-3 advantage in penalty corners.
AIC will return home Thursday for a 4 p.m. Northeast-10 contest against Southern Connecticut State University at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
