Yellow Jackets Swarm Bears, 3-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The American International College men's ice hockey team scored three goals in the final 30 minutes of the contest to skate away with a 3-0 victory against Brown University. The win against the Bears is the first in school history and against any team in the ECAC since going Division I in 1998-99.

AIC improves to 3-8-2 overall, while Brown falls to 3-4-1 overall.

The contest remained scoreless until 8:38 in the second period when junior forward Steve Mele (Bronx, N.Y.)tipped the puck past the Bear's senior goalie Mike Clemente (Great Falls, VA).Sophomore forward Jon Puskar (Grosse Ile, Mich.) earned the assist on Mele's goal.

The Yellow Jackets entered the third period strong. Sophomore forward Blake Peake (Lethbridge, Alb.)scored his first goal of the season at 3:59 to make the contest 2-0.

Brown pulled Clemente with two minutes remaining giving freshman forward Matt Cassidy (London, Ont.) an opportunity to score AIC's third goal of the night at 18:50 for the 3-0 victory over the Bears.

Junior goaltender Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) stopped 38 in earning the win, while Clemente made 27 saves in net for the loss.

Brown outshot AIC 38-30.

The Yellow Jackets will return home for a weekend series against Canisius on November 26-27. Saturdays contest will be at 7:05 p.m., while Sunday's contest will be played at 2:05 p.m. at the Olympia Ice Center.
