Men's Ice Hockey Falls at Bentley, 4-1

WATERTOWN, Mass. – The American International College men's ice hockey team dropped a 4-1 Atlantic Hockey contest at Bentley University Friday night at the John A. Ryan Skating Arena.

The Falcons improved to 3-6-1 for the season and 3-1-0 in Atlantic Hockey play, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 2-8-0 overall and 2-3-0 in conference play.

The game was scoreless until the 4:44 mark of the second period when freshman blueliner Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored to give Bentley a 1-0 lead. Senior defenseman Trent Bonnett (Butler, Pa.) scored what proved to be game-winner with 4:47 left in the second and junior forward Dan Koudys (Grimsby, Ont.) added an insurance goal 7:22 into the third.

Sophomore forward jon Puskar (Grosse Ile, Mich.) got AIC on the board with a power play goal with 4:22 left in the game, and freshman forward Brett Switzer (Calgary, Alb.) added an empty net goal in the closing seconds for the 4-1 final.

Sophomore goalie Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y.) registered 31 saves to earn the win in net for the Falcons, while junior goalie Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) had 26 stops in taking the loss for the Yellow Jackets.

AIC outshot Bentley 32-30 and was 1-for-3 on the power play, while Bentley was 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

The Yellow Jackets will next host the University of Connecticut Saturday for a 7:05 p.m. Atlantic Hockey contest.
