AIC Places Four On Northeast-10 all-Conference Field Hockey Team

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Four members of the American International College field hockey team – senior midfielder Linsey Fernandes (Ajax, Ont.), senior goalkeeper Kim Steiner (Little, Falls, N.Y.), junior midfielder Lisa Duckles (Netcong, N.J.) and freshman forward Jenna Masionis (Ashland, Mass.) – have been named to the Northeast-10 all-conference team, it was announced by the conference office.

Fernandes was named a first-team all-conference selection, while Duckles and Steiner were earned second-team honors. Masionis was named to the all-rookie team.

Fernandes, who is now a three-time all-conference selection (two first-team selections), started in all 18 games as a senior, scoring three goals with four assists for 10 points. The two-time all-American scored one goal with a school-record four assists for a school-record six points in a 5-2 win at Southern Connecticut October 20.

Duckles, who was a NE-10 all-rookie selection and was named to the WomensFieldHockey.com national all-rookie team as a freshman, started in each of her 17 games played during the regular season and was second on the team in scoring with seven goals and four assists for 18 points, all career highs.

Masionis, who was named the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week October 18, started in 16 of her 18 games played during the regular season and lead the team in scoring with eight goals and four assists for 20 points.

Steiner, who was an all-conference and all-America selection last season, started all 18 games on goal for AIC, posting an 11-7 record with a school-record three shutouts, a 1.61 goals against average and a .835 save percentage. Her 152 saves were the most in the Northeast-10 during the regular season.

The fifth-seeded Yellow Jackets (12-7) will next travel to top-seeded Merrimack College October 28 for a 7 p.m. Northeast-10 Championship Tournament semifinal match.
