ERIE, Pa. –Three players registered multi point games as the American International College ice hockey squad won their second contest of the season 5-2 over Mercyhurst Friday evening. The win moves the Yellow Jackets to 2-7-0 overall and 2-7-0 in Atlantic Hockey while the loss drops the Lakers to 4-5-1 overall and 4-3-0 in the conference.
Mercyhurst grabbed the contest's first score 13 minutes into the first-period. Senior forward Steven Cameron (Mission, B.C.), redirected a pass from senior forward Mike Gurtler (Rochester, N.Y.) into the back of the net. Freshman forward Taylor Holstrom (Yorba Linda, Calif.) earned the second assist on the score. The Lakers took the lead into the second-period.
AIC tied the game at one in the second-period at 4:38 when junior forward
Michael Penny (Calgary, Alb.) scored on a powerplay off a dish from senior forward
Tom Mele (Bronx, N.Y.). Mercyhurst took the 2-1 lead a little over two minutes later when sophomore forward Grant Blakey (Canton, Mich.) found the back of the net. Senior forward Brandon Coccimiglio (Burlington, Ontario) and sophomore defenseman Charlie Carkin (Lowell, Mass.) registered the assists on Blakey's goal.

Richard Leitner (Los Alamistos, Calif.) registered the assist, while
Tom Mele earned his second point of the night and registered the second assist.

Adam Pleskach (Beausejour, Man.) scored on a powerplay 11 minutes in with an assist from junior forward
Nielsson Arcibal (Vista, Cali.). Arcibal scored AIC's fourth goal of the night at 13:05 in the third with an assist from Pleskach. Pleskach then closed the scoring at 19:42, assisted by senior defenseman
Mike Little (Enfield, Conn.).
Sophomore goaltender
Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) finished the game with 27 saves to earn the victory for the Yellow Jackets, while senior goaltender Ryan Zapolski (Erie, Pa.) had 34 saves in the loss.
AIC outshot the Lakers 39-29.
AIC and Mercyhurst will conclude the weekend match-up tomorrow night with 7:05 pm. in an Atlantic Hockey Contest.
