WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's ice hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision against Robert Morris University on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams. Junior forward Nielsson Arcibal (Vista, Calif.) scored the Yellow Jackets only goal of the game.

The Colonials scored twice in the second period to take control of the game with goals from senior defenseman Brock Meadows (White Rock, B.C.) and senior forward Nathan Longpre (Peterborough, Ont.). Robert Morris tagged on two more goals in the third period with goals from senior defenseman Denny Urban (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Longpre.

Arcibal scored 13 minutes into the third period to break up the shutout off a pass from sophomore defenseman Jeff Ceccacci (Placentia, Calif.). Sophomore forward Adam Pleskach (Beausejour, Man.) also had an assist on the play.

Junior goaltender Brooks Ostergard (Chargin Falls, Ohio) made 22 saves in net for the Colonials to earn the victory, while sophomore goaltender Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) stopped 43 in the lose for the Yellow Jackets.

Robert Morris outshot AIC 47-23.

AIC will take on Robert Morris again Sunday afternoon for a 4:05 pm Atlantic Hockey contest at the Olympia Ice Center.
