SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College football team was shutout for the first time since 2005 after suffering a 13-0 loss to the University of New Haven on a blustery Saturday afternoon before a crowd of 3,842 at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
The Chargers improved to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Norhteast-10, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The last time AIC was shutout was a 21-0 loss at Bryant September 3, 2005, while the last time the Yellow Jackets were blanked at home was a 10-0 loss to C.W. Post November 1, 2003.
The game was scoreless until freshman place kicker Christopher Scifo (Coral Springs, Fla.) converted a 25-yard field goal attempt 4:26 into the second quarter and he made it a 6-0 game when he made a 45-yard field goal with 2:52 remaining in the third.
Junior defensive end Robert Hill (Suffield, Conn.) scored the only touchdown of the day when he intercepted AIC senior quarterback
Rob Parent (West Warwick, R.I.) and the Yellow Jackets' 10-yard line and ran it into the end zone 2:17 into the fourth quarter.
Turnovers and some back luck cost AIC the win. The Yellow Jackets lost three fumbles on the afternoon and Parent was picked off twice. AIC also had an interception call back on a facemask penalty and the drive that was allowed to continue resulted in the Chargers' second field goal.
New Haven junior quarterback Ryan Osiecki (Seymour, Conn.) completed 16-of-24 passes for 151 yards, while junior running back Victor Jones (Patterson, N.J.) carried the ball 46 times for 202 yards. Parent was just 9-of-16 78 yards and AIC's was held to just 94 yards on the ground.

Terrence Holley (Bogota, N.J.) had a game-high 16 tackles (eight solo) for AIC, while sophomore linebacker
Darius Evans (Linden, N.J.) and freshman defensive end
Justin Tervo (Millbury, Mass.) had 11 each. Evans and had 1.5 sacks and forced a fumble.
Junior defensive back Desmond Anderson (Jacksonville, Fla.) had five tackles (four solo) with one pick and one fumble recovery to lead New Haven's defense. Junior linebacker Mike Gomes (Brockton, Mass.) also had five tackles and recovered a pair of fumbles, while junior linebacker Charlie Hatchett (Bridgeport, Conn.) had five tackles with one tackles for loss.
The Yellow Jackets have two weeks to recover before heading to Merrimack College for a 1 p.m. Northeast-10 contest October 30.
