Wallace's 25 Points Leads Men's Basketball Past Saint Michael's, 64-57

Colchester, Vt. - Sophomore forward #Isiah Wallace# (Springfield, Mass.) scored a game-high 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field to lead the American International College men's basketball team to a 64-57 Northeast-10 victory at Saint Michael's College Tuesday night at the Ross Sports Center.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 9-10 overall and 7-7 in the Northeast-10 with their third victory in four games, while the Purple Knights dropped to 8-10 for the season and 4-10 in conference play.

It was a tight game all the way to the end, featuring 15 lead changes and five ties. AIC took the lead for good on a three from junior guard #Byron Richards# (Adelphia, Md.) 8:05 into the second half, making it a 40-38 contest.

It was still a two-point game, 47-45, two minutes later before AIC used a 7-1 burst that was capped by a pair of Wallace free throws that gave the Yellow Jackets their largest lead of the game, 54-46, with 5:51 to go in the contest. Saint Michael's then went on a 6-0 run to pull back within two, but AIC answered with five straight to push its lead back to seven at 59-52 with 1:37 on the clock.

Senior guard #Mike Troll# (New York, N.Y.) scored nine points with five rebounds, five assists and two steals for the Yellow Jackets. Richards also scored nine points, while sophomore guard #Adrian Hynes-Guery# (Montreal, Que.) netted seven pints with five boards and two assists.

Freshman forward Derek Knutty (Rocklin, Calif.) scored 16 points and grabbed seven boards for Saint Michael's, while freshman guard Travis Warech (Pine Brook, N.J.) netted 15 points with three boards. Junior guard/forward Nate Birr (Burnsville, Minn.) posted 12 points with nine boards and three assists.

AIC shot 61.9 percent (13-21) from the floor in the second half and 45.1 percent (23-51) for the game. The Yellow Jackets also shot 26.3 percent (5-19) from three and 52 percent (13-25) from the line. The Purple Knights shot 38.6 percent (22-57) from the field, 33.3 percent (7-21) from three and 66.7 percent (6-9) from the line.

The Yellow Jackets will next host Saint Anselm College in a 3:30 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
