Box Score

Springfield, Mass. – The American International College field hockey team lost Wednesday night to No. 5 Stonehill 3-1, in what was the programs first ever night game at the new John Homer Miller Field. With the loss the Yellow Jackets fall to 3-8 for the season and to 2-4 in the Northeast-10, while the win improves the Skyhawks to 9-2 overall and to 3-0 in the conference. Sophomore #Kim Steiner# (Little Falls, N.Y.) played stellar between the pipes for AIC making 11 saves on the night.

Sophomore #Linsey Fernandes# (Ajax. Ont.) broke the 0-0 tie when she found the back of the net off a rebound, putting AIC out in front 1-0. The lead would not last long as Stonehill fired right back when sophomore Kathryn Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass.) netted a goal just 53-seconds later.

The Skyhawks took their first lead of the game in the 47th-minute when senior Claire Hourihan (East Amherst, N.Y.) tallied a goal with an assist from classmate Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass.). Ladino added a goal with just over 5-minutes remaining to give Stonehill a 3-1 win.

Junior Courtney Osier (South Dennis, Mass.) stopped just one shot to record the win.

Next up, the Yellow Jackets host Franklin Pierce on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. to cap off the American International College Homecoming Weekend.
