Men's Basketball Stays Unbeaten in NE-10, Downs SCSU 62-50

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American International College men's basketball team recorded a 62-50 win over visiting Southern Connecticut State University Sunday afternoon at Butova Gymnasium. Junior forward #Allen Aragbaye# (Corona, Calif.) scored a team-best 17 points with four rebounds and five steals to lead the Yellow Jackets.

AIC improved to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the Northeast-10 with its fourth straight win, while the Owls fell to 0-6 overall and
0-3 in conference play.

Sophomore guard #Adrian Hynes-Guery# (Montreal, Que.) scored 11 points with five rebounds and three assists and senior forward #Aikeem Vanderhorst# (Bay Shore, N.Y.) netted 10 points with five boards. Sophomore forward #Isiah Wallace# (Springfield, Mass.) fell just short of a double-double with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds and senior guard #Mike Troll# (New York, N.Y.) had eight points.

Freshman guard Torbin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) scored a game-high 22 points for Southern Connecticut. Sophomore forward Kieran Ramsey (North Hollywood, Calif.) registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.

The score was tied a six five minutes into the game before the Yellow Jackets went on a 14-4 run to open a 20-10 lead 8:41 into the contest. AIC held a 36-26 lead at the half and led by as many as 16 after an Aragbaye jumper made it a
53-37 advantage for the Yellow Jackets with 8:32 left in the contest.

The Owls used a 9-0 run over the next 3:06 to cut their deficit to seven at 53-46, but AIC answered with a 6-0 burst to extend its lead back to 13, 59-46, with 1:56 to go in the contest.

AIC will return to action Wednesday when it travels to Assumption College for a 7:30 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
