ABOUT AIC/LAST TIME OUT: The Yellow Jackets set or tied three school records as it open the 2008 campaign with a 45-19 victory at C.W. Post Saturday afternoon at Hickox Field. Senior wide receiver Travis Poole caught 10 passes for a school-record 253 yards and three touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets. Sophomore quarterback Rob Parent tied the record for passing touchdowns in a game with six while completing 18-of-30 passes for 344 yards. The six passing touchdowns were also tied the single-game team record, which was set in AIC's 44-36 overtime win at Bryant back on Nov. 4, 2000 when current quarterbacks coach Tom Guy completed 19-of-39 passes for 272 yards and school-record six TDs.

C.W. Post jumped on the board first when senior quarterback Nick Georgetti connected with junior wide receiver Ryan Pettys on a 31-yard touchdown pass, but the Yellow Jackets answered on their next possession to tie the game at 7-7. Junior Amadeus Guerrero-Pou caught the ensuing kickoff at his own two-yard line and returned it 46 yards the to Pioneers' 46. Parent found junior wide receiver Kertis Hussey four plays later on a 24-yard scoring pass. AIC took the lead for good on its next possession when Poole took a Parent pass 73 yards to the house and senior place kicker Marek Prezbylek converted the PAT to give the Yellow Jackets a 14-7 lead with 16 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Senior place kicker Andrew Kroell's 36-yard field goal cut AIC's lead to 14-10 2:22 into the second quarter, but the Yellow Jackets answered with 31 straight points to put the game out of reach. Parent connected on a pair of 14-yard scoring passes with Poole and Hussey and Prezbylek added a 29-yard field goal to give AIC a commanding 31-10 lead at halftime. Poole caught his third TD-pass of the day (27 yards) with 4:17 left in the third quarter and Hussey found the endzone on a 24-yard scoring pass to give the Yellow Jackets their biggest lead of the game, 45-10, with 32 seconds left in the third stanza.

Hussey finished with seven catches for 90 yards and also had three TDs. Junior linebacker Nick Abraham and sophomore linebacker C.J. Fresia each had seven tackles, six of which were solo takedowns, and had one tackle-for-loss for AIC. Sophomore defensive back Wausa Onigbanjo had five tackles with one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

LAST TIME THEY MET: Prezbylek kicked a 34-yard field goal with five seconds left on the clock as AIC won a 36-35 shootout with Southern Connecticut Sept. 22, 2007 in Springfield. The Yellow Jackets trailed the entire game and were down 35-26 half way through the fourth quarter before Poole scored on a nine-yard pass from Parent to make it a 36-33 contest. AIC then forced a three and out to get the ball back and setup the game-winning field goal. Parent was 25-of-41 for 299 yards and three TDs and Calvin Hall carried the ball 25 times for 93 yards and one score. Steve Armstrong was 21-of-27 passing for 241 yards and two TDs for the Owls, while Jerom Freeman carried the ball 24 times for 102 yards and two scores.

AIC VS. SOUTHERN CONNECICUT: The Owls lead the all-time series with the Yellow Jackets with a record of 27-20-3. AIC has won two of the last three contests with Southern Connecticut, with both wins coming in Springfield. The home team has 11 of the last 12 meetings between the two teams. The one exception was the Owls posting a 20-14 win at AIC on Nov. 15, 2003.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE: It's been quite some time since the Yellow Jackets recorded a victory at Southern Connecticut, nearly 20 years, in fact. AIC's last road win in the series was a 34-20 decision back on Oct. 1, 1988. The Yellow Jackets have dropped nine in a row at Southern Connecticut since then.
