Baseball Falls To UMass Lowell 1-0

Lowell, Mass. - Sophomore Nick Noblit (Westfield, Mass.) tossed seven innings allowing only one run on three hits, but received no offensive support as the American International College baseball team fell 1-0 to UMass-Lowell Sunday afternoon. The win improves the River Hawks to 19-17 overall and 14-6 in the conference. The Yellow Jackets fall to 9-22 overall and 7-13 in the conference following the loss.

Sophomore Billy Thompson (Brookfield, Mass.) also went an inning on the hill for AIC, surrendering a hit and no runs.

The contest's lone score came in the bottom of the first inning when River Hawks leadoff batter Tim Manton singled to lead off the stanza and scored on a Sean Burns RBI single.
From there, UMass-Lowell rode Kyle Davis, who pitched a complete game five hits shutout, to the victory.

Sophomore Dan Bassani (Naples, Fla.) led the way for the Yellow Jackets grabbing two hits while senior David Dest (Orange, Conn.) and freshman Kyle McNiff (Westfield, Mass.) and Louis Saunders (Garfield, N.J.) each had a hit each.

AIC will hit the road to take on Southern Connecticut Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
