Colchester, Vt. - The American International College field hockey team lost 2-0 at Saint Michael's Saturday afternoon in what was their final game of the 2008 season. With the loss the Yellow Jackets finish the regular season with a record of 5-16 overall and 4-16 in the Northeast-10, while the win improves the Purple Knights' record to 11-7 on the season and 11-7 in the conference.

Junior Desiree Biron (Bow, N.H.) scored what proved to be the game-winner with just 36 seconds left in the first half and classmate Kaitlin Koffink (Goffstown, N.H.) added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute for the 2-0 final. Senior Jordan Smalling (Essex Junction, Vt.) made seven saves in recording the shutout, while freshman #Kim Steiner# (Redford, N.Y.) tallied 12 saves in taking the loss.

Saint Michael's out shot AIC 18-9 in the game, including an 11-1 advantage in the first half, and held a 16-9 edge in penalty corners.

The Yellow Jackets five wins this season set a school record for wins in a single-season, surpassing the previous mark of four victories in 1999.
