Men's Basketball Drops 68-62 Decision at Stonehill

Easton, Mass. - The American International College men's basketball team dropped to 7-9 on the season and 4-6 in the Northeast-10 after a 68-62 loss at Stonehill College Wednesday night. The Skyhawks improved to 12-6 overall and 8-3 in conference play after recording their seventh consecutive win. Freshman guard Sesoo Ikpah (Williamstown, N.J.) scored a team-best 15 points and grabbed five boards to lead the Yellow Jackets.

Stonehill led 38-30 at halftime after shooting 53.1 percent (17-32) from the floor and ending the period with a 10-3 run, while the Yellow Jackets, who are now 0-9 when trailing at halftime, shot 48.1 percent (13-27) from the field. The Skyhawks outscored AIC 24-10 in the paint and held an 11-0 advantage in second chance scoring.

The Yellow Jackets opened the second half with a 14-5 run to regain the lead at 44-43 at the 14:46 mark, but Stonehill regained the lead for good two minutes later on a pair of free throws from sophomore forward A.J. Rudowicz (Monroe Township, N.J.) and led by as many as 10 at 64-54 after a Rudowicz layup with 3:52 left in the contest.

Junior forward Nick Smith (Colonia, N.J.) led the Skyhawks with a game-high 19 points and Rudowicz finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Jeff Dosado's (Montreal, P.Q.) scored 14 points and dished out five assists for AIC and junior forward Colson Senat (Montreal, P.Q.) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets shot 42.9 percent (12-28) in the second half and held Stonehill to 35 percent (7-20) shooting from the floor, but the Skyhawks hit 14 of 19 free throws to AIC's 5 for 7 performance at the line.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday when they Saint Anselm at 3:30 p.m. in a Northeast-10 contest.
