SPRINGFIELD, Mass - Junior forward/midfielder Sam Rowe (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored midway through the first overtime period to give Saint Anselm a 2-1 victory over the American International College field hockey team Sunday afternoon at Springfield College's Stagg Field. Senior forward Nicole Phelps (Nassau, N.Y.) scored her school-record 18th career goal for the Yellow Jackets.

AIC finishes the season with an overall record of 3-15 and a 2-14 mark in the Northeast-10, while the Hawks finished the regular season at 8-9 overall record and 8-8 in conference play.

The Yellow Jackets controlled the game for a majority of the first 70 minutes, out shooting Saint Anselm 14-1 in the first half and 19-6 at the end of regulation. Phelps cashed in on one of those attempts when she redirected a shot from junior midfielder Stephanie Laskey (Erving, Mass.) with 2:57 remaining in the first half to give AIC a 1-0 lead. Phelps finished her collegiate career with 18 goals and two assists for 38 career points, ranking her third on AIC's all-time scoring list.

The Hawks answered 9:04 into second half when junior midfielder Maggie Dwyer (Eklridge, Md.) tipped home a shot from freshman defender Sara Griffin (Derry, N.H.) to tie the match at 1-1. The two teams traded scoring chances in overtime before junior forward Laura Urko (Attleboro, Mass.) setup Rowe's game-winner on a breakaway with 7:48 left in the extra frame.

Sophomore goalie Riley Haddock (Falmouth, Maine) made 14 saves in recording the win for Saint Anselm, while senior keeper Cindy Armand (Danvers, Mass.) made 10 saves in taking the loss for the Yellow Jackets. Armand finished her career with 659 saves, placing her second on the career saves list.
