Shania Springer was named assistant women's lacrosse coach in February 2026. She will assist in all aspects of the program.
Springer joins AIC after playing for two years for the Dean Bulldogs. During her time as a player, Springer collected a total of 20 shots, 39 ground balls, and 18 different caused turnovers. Her time was split, transferring to William Pace University in 2019 before returning to Dean the following year. In 13 games for the Pacers, Springer posted four points on defense, plus an additional 42 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers. She also took home the 2019 USA South Defender of the Year honors and Second team All-Conference.Â
As a dual athlete, she replicated the same journey in her main sport, women's basketball, playing two seasons for the Dean Bulldogs and the 2018-2019 season for the William Peace Pacers. Her best season on the court came in the 2017-18 campaign. Springer averaged just over 6.5 points per game, including 37 steals, 59 rebounds, 48 total assists. She also started in nine of her 21 appearances for Dean.
After obtaining her B.S in Exercise Science from Dean College, she went on to attend Johnson & Wales University (RI) during the 2022-23 season. While acquiring her MBA in organizational psychology, Springer played one season for the Wildcats' women's basketball program. During 19 appearances (14 starts), she accumulated over 8pts points per game, 67 total rebounds, and an impressive 56 assists. She dropped a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists against Elms (1/19) and received All-Academic Team.Â
Springer remains in the Providence area where she teaches at Achievement First High School and is a member of the Newport County Officials Association, USA lacrosse L2 official, and the IAABO Board 84 Officials.
