Maura Donovan joined the Yellow Jackets as the Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations on August 3, 2020, and on September 20, 2022 she was named Assistant Director for Athletics Giving and Engagement. In 2020, Donovan was elected to the national NCAA Division II Wrestling Committee.

Donovan comes to AIC with a wealth of experience in marketing both within the realm of collegiate athletics and outside of it. Most recently, she was the Associate Director of Events and Regional Programs at Ithaca College, a position that she has held since January of 2013. There, among many accomplishments, Donovan engaged with alumni around the nation to plan and execute events, helped create promotional material for athletic competitions, and helped to organize and implement Ithaca's annual golf fundraising tournament.

Perhaps most notably, she was involved with the committee that helped Ithaca set the NCAA Division III football attendance record in a game at MetLife Stadium against SUNY Cortland in 2019. A total of 45,161 fans watched the 61st Cortaca Jug game.

Prior to her time at Ithaca, Donovan worked in the private sector, spending four years each at Strength In Motion and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the greater Syracuse, New York area. Those positions came on the heels of seven years as the Assistant Director of Development in the athletic department at Syracuse University, as well as an Events Assistant for the Orange Bowl Committee.

Donovan is no stranger to Western Massachusetts, either, having graduated from nearby Regis College with a Bachelor's degree in business management, and then from Springfield College with a Master's degree in physical education with a concentration in sports management.

Yellow Jackets athletes will also find that Donovan is ready not just to plan events around their competitions, but to participate herself. She recently completed the Ironman Lake Placid in July 2019 and has completed three Half Ironman triathlons as well as the Pan Mass Challenge, where she biked 194 miles across the state of Massachusetts to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
