Matt Lein

American International College Director of Volleyball Matthew Cribbin announced the hiring of Matt Lein as Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.
 
Lein joins the volleyball staff after spending the last six years at Plattsburgh State University of New York. He spent his first four seasons as the assistant coach before being elevated to the head coach role in 2018. During his time at Plattsburgh, he helped three student-athletes earn All-SUNYAC honors through building training programs, practice programs, and scouting reports. Lein was adamant about planning community service events, coordinating fundraising opportunities, and developing student-athletes off the court during his time with the Cardinals.
 
Lein started his college coaching career with Nova Southeastern University from 2009-14 starting as a student assistant before transiting into an assistant coach role in 2013. The Sharks made the NCAA tournament in 2009 with a 19-11 record.
 
Outside of the college ranks, Lein has coached Northern Impact Volleyball Club (2014-present), Siena Women's Volleyball Club (2017-18), NY Attack Volleyball Club (2017-18), Wildfire Volleyball Cub (2013-14), American Heritage Boys Volleyball (2013-14), Florida Suns Volleyball Club (2011-13) and University School Boys Volleyball (2009). Additionally, he is a New York State certified volleyball official.
 
Lein is a 2013 and 2017 graduate of Nova Southeastern with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master's of Science in mental health counseling.
