Cory Schneider

Cory Schneider joined the ice hockey coaching staff as an assistant coach on Tuesday, August 20, 2019.

Schneider brings a wealth of collegiate and professional hockey experience to the staff of the Yellow Jackets. Most recently, Schneider served as an assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts Boston, a role he held from August 2017 through the end of the 2019 season.

While with the Beacons, he directed the team’s penalty kill unit, improving it from 45th in the nation to seventh in just two seasons. The Beacons won the New England Hockey Conference Regular Season Championship and earned its first-ever berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament. He also served as the team’s recruiting coordinator, performed video analysis of the team and its opponents, and developed and implemented practice and game plans.

Schneider previously worked as a volunteer assistant coach with the Wentworth Institute of Technology from September 2015 through August 2017. He assisted in player recruitment and developed on- and off-ice strength and conditioning plans in addition to his in-game duties.

Schneider was a four-year member of the ice hockey team at Ohio State University from 2008 to 2012, skating in 112 games for the Buckeyes while earning a bachelor of science in business administration. Selected by his teammates to serve as team captain in his senior season, he earned three selections to the Big Ten All-Academic Team as well as the 2010–2011 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

In addition, Schneider played professionally for the Fort Wayne Komets and Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL and the Fort Worth Brahmas in the CHL.
