Alyssa Scherlin was named an Assistant Athletic Trainer on August 11, 2025.
Scherlin is not a true newcomer to the College, having interned with the football team in the 2023 season. That experience is one of an impressive number of internships she has completed in her young career, encompassing high schools such as the Williston Northampton School, Brattleboro Union in Vermont, and Springfield Central, two different stints at Springfield College, and the Franklin Baystate Hospital Rehabilitation Center.
Most recently, she completed a professional internship with the Chicago Hounds of Major League Rugby. With the Hounds, she conducted a variety of treatments, implemented rehab and maintenance programs, and provided immediate care such as taping and wound care.
She even has international experience, having worked at the Sports Travel Academy in Dublin, Ireland in August of 2022, gaining insights into perspectives of athletic training outside the American system.
Scherlin is CPR and AED certified and has World Rugby Certifications in four areas: Immediate Care in Rugby, Medical Protocols for Match Day Staff, Concussion Management for Doctors and Healthcare Professionals, and Concussion Management for Match Day Medical Staff using the HIA Protocol.
Scherlin, a native of Vernon, Vermont, graduated from Springfield College in May 2024 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science, and earned her master's degree in the same subject in May 2025. While at Springfield, she was a member of the Athletic Training Club and the Black Student Union.
