HOOKSETT, New Hampshire - The American International College softball team dropped its final two road games of the 2026 season, falling 4-1 and 7-3 at Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday, April 28.
AIC is now 13-31 overall and 9-23 in the NE10.
A two-base error in the second inning allowed the Penmen to strike first in game one without a hit; a wild pitch and RBI groundout plated the run.
That held until the fourth, when the Penmen did damage with their bats. A double and three singles brought home a run and loaded the bases, and then a sacrifice fly, single, and error scored two more for a 4-0 edge.
AIC's hitters put up a run in the sixth, with
Brianna Salazar reaching on an error and advancing to second and then home as
Isabel Kahli Robinson laid a bunt single up the third base line before
Jilien Ayala drove her home with a hit to right. However, AIC could not manage another run in the game.
The end result masked a solid start for
Gabrielle Lambert, who allowed just six hits in six frames with three strikeouts and no walks.
The second contest went scoreless until the third inning, with three singles and two flyouts providing a pair of Penmen runs. Two frames later, they added three more, with a double, a single, an error, a single, a sacrifice fly, and another single.
The hosts came close to ending the game in the sixth, scoring twice with a walk, single, and walk to load the bases, followed by an RBI groundout and RBI single, but the Yellow Jackets kept the eighth run off the board.
The team made the most of the opportunity to continue.
Lauryn Ramalho led off with a walk, and
Isabella Viola and Robinson were both hit by pitches. All three scored; Ayala doubled down the left-field line to bring in two and
Nevaeh Trejo singled to right to add another. It took a sliding catch in center field to halt AIC's rally.
AIC will close the 2026 season at home with a quartet against Saint Anselm College. The first two of the NE10 series are set for 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1.
