MIDDLETOWN, Rhode Island - The American International College ice hockey team dropped a 4-1 contest at Salve Regina University on Saturday, October 31.
AIC is now 0-2-0 on the season.
The Seahawks struck first at 5:46 on a Will Doherty goal, but AIC was able to hold them off for the rest of the period, thanks to 13
Matyas Kacbunda saves.
Similarly, although Walter Baumann did notch a goal 1:08 into the second, Kacbunda shut the door the rest of the way, keeping AIC in it at 2-0 after two.
In the third, Mike Michello scored at 7:47, and the hosts threatened to pull away. However, AIC came right back, as
Alexander Roy found
Johnny Blase, who ultimately set up
Kurt Mauser for the first AIC goal of the season at 8:12.
Unfortunately for the Yellow Jackets, the lone remaining tally in the game was a Jacob Miller score for the Seahawks at 13:19 for the 4-1 final.
Kacbunda ended the night with 33 saves.
AIC returns to the Olympia Ice Center to face Westfield State University at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4.Â
