Ta'ape the world! Brothers each score twice as Men's Rugby outlasts Fordham

THE BRONX, New York - Both DJ Ta'ape and Demitrius Ta'ape scored a pair of tries as the American International College men's rugby team sank Fordham University 41-17 in a Liberty Rugby Conference matchup on Friday, September 26.

AIC is now 3-1 overall and in LRC play.

Although the first 20 minutes went by scoreless, AIC quickly poured on the points in the second portion of the half. Jo Roberts put the ball down in the 21st minute, and then the Yellow Jackets blew the game open with three tries in a four-minute stretch between the 34th and 37th minutes. Each Ta'ape brother scored, with Demitrius first and DJ following, and Filimone Manu closed the run with a try of his own. German Rossi converted all three, and AIC led 26-0 at the break.

The brothers were not done, either. DJ put the ball into the try zone in the 56th minute, and his older brother followed two minutes later with a try as well, and Rossi's conversion gave AIC a comfortable 38-0 lead.

AIC did take two yellow cards down the stretch, which allowed the Rams to break the shutout as they scored three tries and one conversion, but Louis Gow closed out regulation with a penalty kick for the 41-17 final.

The Yellow Jackets will return home on Sunday, October 5 for a noon kickoff with Harvard University.
