Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Biro's two-point night not enough for Ice Hockey at Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut - Playing in his 150th NCAA game, Jordan Biro set up one goal and scored another, but the American International College ice hockey team fell 5-2 to Sacred Heart University on Friday, January 17 in Atlantic Hockey America play.

AIC falls to 7-14-2 with a 5-9-0-0-0-2 AHA mark.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 1-0 lead early on as Dario Beljo finished a cross pass from Tyler Procious at the right hash mark for his fourth of the year at 6:37. Biro, who had fed Procious at the point, earned the secondary assist.

Unfortunately for the Yellow Jackets, the lead was short-lived as Marcus Joughin took advantage of a turnover in AIC's end to tie the game at 7:31.

The Pioneers then took a 2-1 lead in the second on the period's only goal, a power-play strike almost immediately off the face-off, with Max Dorrington finishing the play at 4:27.

Down still heading into the third, the Yellow Jackets stunned the Pioneers with a quick strike. This time it was Biro depositing the puck himself, notching his third of the season just 0:18 in by knocking in a pass from Timofei Khokhlachev, with Brett Bamber snagging the second assist by setting up AIC's power forward.

The Pioneers regained the lead at 4:09 on a Felix Trudeau goal, and never looked back, scoring twice in a 57-second span late in the third for the 5-2 final.

The two teams will continue the weekend series at Martire Family Arena on Saturday, January 18 at 7:05 p.m.
