WALTHAM, Massachusetts - The American International College ice hockey team fell 5-2 to Bentley University in Atlantic Hockey America play on Friday, November 15.
AIC is now 2-7-1 overall and 2-3-0-0-0-1 in the AHA.
The Falcons jumped to an early 1-0 lead as Oskar Bakkevig was able to get free in front with a shot that found the net at 1:25. Bentley doubled that lead late in the first on the power play with a Kellan Hjartarson point shot goal through traffic at 18:56.
The second period also belonged to Bentley; Ethan Leyh set up Tanner Main for a goal at 10:55, then redirected in a power play strike of his own at 19:10.2.
In the third, back-to-back penalties put AIC on a 5-on-3, and the Yellow Jackets took full advantage. Brett Rylance worked the puck to Evan Stella at the point, who swung it around to the left faceoff circle, where Wilhelm Forsberg fired home his first collegiate goal at 4:36. Just 12 seconds later, Forsberg worked the puck to Stella, whose shot was tipped in by John Lundy for his second of the year.
AIC's comeback effort drew no closer, however, and the Falcons hit the empty net late for the 5-2 final.
The two teams battle again in Waltham on Saturday, November 16 at 6:00 p.m.
