SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College women's rugby team hosted its annual AIC 7s tournament on Saturday, March 19. The Yellow Jackets entered two teams in the event but it was Army West Point Gold that won the tournament by going 4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
AIC 1:
Game 1 vs. Sacred Heart:
- The Pioneers went into halftime with a 14-0 lead after making two tries and both conversions.
- A minute and a half into the second half freshman Louisa Justice scored and senior Kassidy Pother converted the kick. Almost two minutes later Pothier found the try zone and converted the kick to tie the game at 14.
Game 2 vs. Army Black:
- The Black Knights controlled the game as they scored three times in the first and twice in the second to take the game 31-0.
Game 3 vs. Brown B:
- AIC opened the scoring with a pair of tries in the first two and a half minutes. Junior Suley Guerrero and freshman Sara Doyle score with a pair of Pothier conversions. The scoring continued as Pothier added a try and conversation to give AIC the 21-0 lead at the break.
- The Yellow Jackets continued to roll as Doyle and Guerrero scored again on the way to a 35-0 route of Brown B.
Game 4 vs. LIU:
- The Yellow Jackets wasted no time. Under 40 elapsed when freshman Kalika Havili found her way to the try zone. With 53 seconds remaining in the first stanza junior Jessica Berggren scored and Pother converted the kick.
- Pothier scored 40 seconds into the second half and made the kick to give AIC the 19-0 lead.
- The Sharks scored a minute and a half later to change their score from zero but it would not be enough as the Yellow Jackets took fifth place with a 19-7 win over LIU.
AIC 2:
Game 1 vs. LIU:
- The Sharks scored with a minute left in the first and twice in the second to take the game 19-0.
Game 2 vs. Army Gold:
- The Black Knights controlled the game as they scored five times in the first and four times in the second to seal the game 59-0.
Game 3 vs. Brown A:
- Brown scored five times in the first and twice in the second to secure the top seed in Pool B by a score of 47-0.
