HOW IT HAPPENED:
- AIC took the lead early on after putting solid pressure on the Purple Eagles and forcing an attacking zone draw. Elijiah Barriga won it back to the point for Luis Lindner, who fired into the left side of the goalmouth for Justin Cole. Cole's bid was knocked home by Barriga for his seventh of the season at 5:12 of the first.
- The pace slowed tremendously for the next 40 minutes, but Niagara did tie the game late in the second as Brandon Stanley snapped a goal in at 16:16 from Jack Zielinski.
- The Yellow Jackets pushed the tempo in the third, but Chad Veltri made several strong stops to keep the game 1-1 through regulation.
- Niagara fired five shots in the 3-on-3 overtime but could not solve Jake Kucharski; AIC's two bids on target in OT were snuffed out by Veltri, leaving the game to end in a draw.
- Niagara won the shootout 2-0 for the extra AHA point.
