Ice hockey fights hard in tight loss at West Point

WEST POINT, New York - The American International College ice hockey team fell 1-0 to Army West Point on Saturday, February 12 in an Atlantic Hockey Association matchup to close out the season series between the teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Army struck early in the game on a power play as Eric Butte put home the puck at 8:46 of the first period.
  • Both teams battled, with chances piling up at both ends; Jake Kucharski was unbeaten from that point on, including stopping several breakaways.
  • Kucharski's counterpart, Gavin Abric, was equally brilliant. He stopped all 39 shots he faced to earn the 1-0 win.


HOME ICE ADVANTAGE:

  • The home team won all four games in the season series.
  • AIC outscored Army 9-7 in the four games.
