INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The American International College wrestling team competed at the 43rd Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis on Saturday, December 17.
Five wrestlers competed in the prestigious tournament, which featured 76 of the 120 nationally-ranked wrestlers in NCAA Division II.
Aaron Morocho and Tommy Nichols each scored a win for the Yellow Jackets. Morocho defeated Newberry's Fletcher Swindell with a 12-5 decision, while Nichols took a 9-3 decision from Lake Erie's Austin Fietz.
AIC's top performer was rookie Jack Mackiernan. He took two wins, including a regional victory, defeating Belmont Abbey's Amir Joseph 11-4 and then Trever Begin of Mercyhurst 72.
AIC's next competition will be at the University of Kutztown, where the Yellow Jackets will face the hosts as well as the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
