HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a lead quickly, as Brian Rigali won a battle along the boards and pushed the puck up the wall into the right corner for Elijiah Barriga. Barriga passed to the netmouth, where Blake Bennett was waiting just outside of the goal crease. Brian Kramer came rushing in from the left point, and Bennett teed him up for a one-timer that hit the twine for his third of the year just 1:38 into the game.
  • The Pioneers were able to bounce back quickly, with Andrius Kulbis-Marino following his own shot to the net and jamming it across the goal line during a scramble in front at 6:49.
  • With the game still tied 1-1 heading into the second, AIC pounced again for a goal thanks to a set play off a faceoff during an early power play. Chris Dodero won the draw in the left circle back for Parker Revering, who dished across the blue line to Zak Galambos. Galambos returned the puck to Revering for a shot that Dodero, who had cut to the slot after the draw, was able to direct past Luke Lush for his sixth of the season at 2:55.
  • The team carried that 2-1 lead into the third and expanded it almost instantly. Jake Stella won the opening faceoff to Galambos, who moved the puck to the right side for Justin Young. Young fired the puck around the boards and it took a funny bounce at the netmouth, eluding the control of Lush and coming to Chris Theodore. Stella, who had headed for the top of the crease after winning the draw, was in perfect position to knock the puck into an open cage for his ninth of the season a mere 12 seconds into the frame.
  • AIC had an opportunity to add to the lead with a major power play midway through the third. Though the team did not convert, the Pioneers were unable to take any momentum from it in their comeback effort. Alec Calvaruso held the Pioneers off even once the hosts pulled their own keeper, and the Yellow Jackets earned the three league points with the 3-1 win.

KRAMER CASHES IN:

  • After scoring just once in his first 19 games with AIC, Brian Kramer notched two goals on the weekend.
  • AIC is 4-1-0 when Kramer scores a point this season.

HOT STUFF:

  • The Yellow Jackets' 10 game winning streak is the longest pure winning streak in the nation, one ahead of No. 1 Quinnipiac University's nine consecutive wins.
  • The Bobcats are undefeated in their last 17, but that includes two ties; one of those draws was against AIC on October 29, with the other coming against Clarkson University, whose coaching staff includes former AIC associate head coach Mike Towns.
  • AIC has risen to 17th in the Pairwise rankings as of the end of the game.

NEXT UP:

  • The Yellow Jackets are due to return home to close out January with a two-game set against The College of the Holy Cross beginning Thursday, January 27 at 7:05 p.m. at the MassMutual Center.
