Softball splits series with St. Rose

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts The American International College softball team played its second set of games this season, splitting a doubleheader with St. Rose, winning the first game 3-2 and falling 4-3 in eight innings in the second.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
  • The Golden Knights scored on a single in the top of the fourth to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The Yellow Jackets answered back with a three-run fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Led by Abigail Wells, two-run double.
  • The Golden Knights attempted to come back but Alexis Jimenez shut the door on their comeback to hold on to a 3-2 win.
Game 2:
  • Savanna Liverio-Tyler gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead in the top of the seventh on a fielder's choice.
  • The Yellow Jackets answered in the bottom of the frame on a bunt single by Mackenzie Berman.
  • In the top of the eighth, the Golden Knights scored four runs to take a 5-1 lead and would close out the Yellow Jackets in the bottom of the eighth.

  • The Yellow Jackets continue the home slate against The College of Saint Rose on 21 with a doubleheader; two games are scheduled for each day at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively.
