HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Bobcats tested graduate goalkeeper Alec Calvaruso early with three shots inside the first minute, but he was up to the task.
  • AIC began pushing back and generated some opportunities near the middle of the frame, including a pair of shots by graduate student Luka Maver and senior Parker Revering that Dylan St. Cyr stopped.
  • Quinnipiac broke the scoreless deadlock at 13:25 of the period as Zach Metsa fired a pass from the left circle to the right side of the slot for a one-timer goal off the stick of Ty Smilanic.
  • In the second, the Bobcats spent the early portion of the period on the man advantage, and shortly after Joey Cipollone hit the post with a shot. However, it was AIC that scored the lone goal of the period. Sophomore Julius Janhonen had a cross pass blocked, but the puck bounced to Maver, and his attempt at feeding senior Justin Cole was successful, as the veteran forward blasted home his first of the season at 9:51.
  • The Bobcats held a decided edge in shots over the final 40 minutes of regulation, but Calvaruso was phenomenal, stopping all 34 of the attempts on target.
  • In overtime, the Bobcats finally solved Calvaruso again. Metsa drove the left side of the slot and fired home the winning tally at 0:51 of the three-on-three session.
