Women's rugby shutout New Haven in 7s match

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International women's rugby team defeated the University on New Haven in a friendly 7s match on Friday, October 22 with a score of 43-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Yellow Jackets scored two minutes into the first half with rookie Ivana Kripati and graduate Allyson Pothier converted the kick. Allyson and her sister Kassidy scored the next two tries with conversions by Allyson that gave AIC the 21-0 lead at the break.
  • Twenty-four seconds into the final frame newcomer Sara Doyle scored to make it 26-0. Almost two minutes later freshman Brianna Helman scored and A. Pothier converted the kick.
  • Freshman Emily Murphy scored with 2:26 remaining to extend the lead to 38 points. Kripati scored after time had expired to give AIC the 43-0 win.

  • The Yellow Jackets will hit the road to take on the United State Coast Guard Academy on Saturday, October 23 at 7 p.m.
