HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • AIC lit the lamp early, with senior Tobias Fladeby slamming home a one-timer into a yawning net at 4:02 off of a pass from redshirt sophomore Chris Theodore for his ninth of the year.
  • A penalty at the end of the first frame bit AIC in the second, as Tucker DeYoung tallied the tying goal at 0:42 of the period.
  • Army took the lead at 3:24 as Ricky Lyle lit the lamp from the right side.
  • Another penalty put Army up a man, and it took just one second for Colin Bilek to one-time home the faceoff at 4:02.
  • Bilek struck again on a powerplay at 10:21 on a rush after AIC just missed a shorthanded bid.
  • The Yellow Jackets got onto the power play late in the frame and began a comeback attempt, with rookie Blake Bennett passing down the right wing wall to his classmate Michal Stinil; Stinil took a shot that ended up being a pass off the pads of Army goalkeeper Trevin Kozlowski, and redshirt sophomore Zak Galambos had the entire net to shoot home his third of the year at 16:40.
  • AIC came out firing in the third and cut the deficit to just one quickly with junior Parker Revering taking the puck from redshirt sophomore Eric Otto after a faceoff win and moving it down the wall to Galambos; the defender cut below the goal line and then dished to Otto at the netmouth, and Otto snuck the puck inside the right post at 2:42 for his first collegiate goal.
  • AIC continued to pressure, but could not find an equalizer; Army picked up one more power play goal as Bilek completed a hat trick at 16:27 to take the 5-3 lead that proved to be the final.

BIG Z:
  • Galambos had an enormous week for AIC, with at least one point in each of the three games against Army.
  • He notched two goals on Wednesday, set up the winner Thursday, and had a goal and an assist Sunday.
  • The five points tied him for second-most on the week in all of Atlantic Hockey and was the league's best week for a defenseman.

STICK TAP TO COLLEGE HOCKEY'S FIRST FAMILY:
  • The win for Army marked the 1,000th victory between Jack Riley, Rob Riley, and Brian Riley since a member of the Riley family took over coaching at West Point in 1950.
  • AIC head coach Eric Lang was behind the bench with current Army head coach Brian Riley for 38 of those wins as his assistant coach from 2012-16.

NEXT UP:
  • AIC hosts Long Island University in a nonconference game at 2:05 p.m. at the MassMutual Center on Wednesday, January 13.
