HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Yellow Jackets had the early edge in chances, but the midpoint of the first period came without a goal before Air Force broke the ice; a puck that came into the slot from a corner battle was hammered home by Luke Manning at 12:25.
  • AIC bounced back late in the frame, as senior Joel Kocur found junior Chris Dodero with a pass; Dodero fed the point for his classmate Jeff Baum, and the Texas native picked the corner through a screen for his first of the year at 18:29.
  • The Falcons regained the edge at 9:32 of the second as Marshall Bowery scored on a wrister off the rush. Then, at 11:50, Bowery tipped back a rebound to give his side a 3-1 edge.
  • AIC fought hard in the third, outshooting the Falcons 10-4, but the only tally of the frame came at the very end when Kieran Durgan scored at 19:52 into the empty net to seal the 4-1 final.
