HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
- Sophomore Bonnie Kennedy led off the game with a single through the left side, but the Yellow Jackets could not bring her in. That set up a home half for Adelphi that began with three consecutive solo home runs. A hit batter, two singles, and two errors brought in two more runs for the Panthers, who had a 5-0 lead through one.
- The hosts added another run in the second and two in the third before tacking on five in the fourth to win 13-0.
Game 2:
- The bats were quiet early in the second game. The ball did not leave the infield until the third, when sophomore Olivia Ortega singled to center with two outs for AIC. However, in the bottom of the third, the home team finally connected, stringing six hits and a pair of walks together to score six times.
- In the fourth, the Panthers added to the lead, with a two-run home run staking Adelphi to an 8-0 advantage that ended up as the final after the Yellow Jackets failed to score in the top of the fifth.
NEXT UP:
- The two teams finish off their four-game series back on Long Island on Monday, April 22 with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
