HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After a Yellow Jacket missed shot to open the game, the Wildcats came down and missed a layup, but Tiara Filbert got her own rebound and shoveled the pass to Caroline White for the easy put in. Junior power forward Sara Guntin Barriero tied the game with a pair from the line. After the Wildcats laid one in, senior guard Rashana Siders nailed a three from the extended lane line to give AIC the 5-4 lead. Daemen went on a 4-0 run over the next three and half minutes before sophomore guard Zoe Willis made a layup to make it 8-7. At the end of the first quarter, the Wildcats led 10-7.
  • After a basket by the Wildcats in the first 11 seconds of the second quarter, neither team score for three minutes. Junior guard Destine Perry broke the scoring drought on a second-chance layup after an offensive rebound by Siders to make it 12-9. Junior forward Asia Turner kept the run going with a layup and a free throw to knot the game up at 12. With 1:09 remaining in the first half, Turner found herself open for another layup and gave AIC the 16-14 lead. Thirteen seconds remained in the half when Daemen shooter Jordan Heinold drained a three to give the Wildcats the 17-16 lead at the break.
  • Out of the break, Willis finished a nice right handed layup while drawing the foul as she completed the three-point play to give AIC the 19-17 lead with 9:16 on the clock. The next six and a half minutes were dominated by the Wildcats as they went on a 16-0 run to take the 33-19 lead. With just 10 minutes left to play, the Wildcats led 37-23.
  • Trailing 43-24, Willis nailed another layup to give her seven points on the day. On the next possession, Siders elevated and drained a three. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Wildcats in the final stanza, but it was not enough as Daemen took the game 53-40.
