HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • AIC opened the scoring in the first period as rookie Jake Stella dumped the puck forward to junior Brennan Kapcheck; Kapcheck in turn sent classmate Austin Albrecht into the zone on the right side, and he placed his wrist shot out of reach of Tigers goalkeeper Jeremie Forget for his third of the year at 10:18.
  • Princeton was able to tie the game early in the second, taking advantage of a turnover to send Corey Andonovski in on a breakaway; he snapped his shot from the right circle off of the left post and into the net at 4:03 for his sixth of the year.
  • The Tigers nearly took the lead on a turnover in the slot, but Jake Paganelli's bid with 6:10 left in the middle frame was denied by redshirt sophomore Stefano Durante.
  • During a four-on-four, senior Janis Jaks sent redshirt sophomore Luka Maver in on a breakaway, but Maver's shot rang off of the left post.
  • In the third, AIC iced the opening faceoff and Princeton made the Yellow Jackets pay, as Jackson Cressey banged in a rebound off of an Andonovski wraparound at 0:14 for his fourth of the year.
  • From there, the Tigers slammed the door shut, keeping AIC silent and taking a 2-1 win.
COACH'S CORNER:
  • "We played a really good hockey game. We couldn't convert when had multiple grade-A chances in the first. I thought we had the puck the entire 3rd period and did some good things. Princeton did a good job of keeping us to the perimeter," said head coach Eric Lang.
  • Of the deciding goal, Lang noted "it's a funny game; we have lots discussions on how every play and every puck matters. We take a six-inch icing, get a center thrown out of the faceoff, and lose the hockey game."
NEXT UP:
  • AIC closes the first half with an AHC Championship rematch against Niagara University at the MassMutual Center.
  • The two-game set will be Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14, with both games set to start at 1:05 p.m.
  • Tickets are available for both contests at aic.edu/hockeytickets.
