HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams generated a few chances early, but Trevin Kozlowski and senior Zackarias Skog were able to keep the cages clean through the first media timeout at the midpoint of the frame.
- Army had the best chance of the first frame late, with Michael Wilson breaking into the zone with just over a minute to play, but senior Nicolas Luka was able to catch up and knock the puck off of Wilson's stick before the opposing forward could fire a shot.
- Early in the second, senior Blake Christensen hit junior Chris Dodero on a two-on-one for a chance in the slot, but Kozlowski was able to get a pad on it.
- AIC went on the game's first power play, but it was Army striking, netting a shorthanded goal on a delayed penalty on a finish by Dominic Franco at 2:46.
- The Yellow Jackets nearly tied the game late in the period as senior Hugo Reinhardt banged at a rebound, but Kozlowski was able to keep the puck just in front of the goal line.
- Army doubled its lead right out of the gate in the second, as Brett Abdelnour buried a shot just under the crossbar at 1:07.
- Immediately following a stretch of four-on-four, AIC cut the deficit back to one as senior Patrik Demel put a chance on net and redshirt sophomore Justin Cole was in front to push the rebound in at 4:46. Junior Brennan Kapcheck was also credited with an assist on the tally.
- The Black Knights were given a major power play midway through the third, but the best chance was a pair of shorthanded bids by AIC, with Cole nearly stuffing in the tying goal but Kozlowski finding a way to keep it out ; under half a minute later, Eric Butte had a bid denied by a sliding Skog.
- Neither team hit the cage again as the Black Knights held on to win.
