Late rally lifts Cadets over women's rugby

NORTHFIELD, New Hampshire - The American International College women's rugby team hit their road to take on the Cadets of Norwich. Despite a late push by the Yellow Jackets, the Cadets took the game 28-22 on Saturday, September 22.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Cadets scored just 1:30 into the game to take the early 7-0 lead. Just under seven minutes later, they extended their lead to 12-0 on another try.
  • The Yellow Jackets found themselves on the board just minutes later with a try by sophomore Siale Alanti. A try by freshman Brooke Garcia made it 12-10. Right before the half, Norwich scored again to make it a 19-10 game at the break.
  • Alanti scored again in the second half to make it a 19-15 game. Moments later, the Cadets countered with a try to extend their lead 22-15.
  • Senior Melissa Dessources scored a try while freshman Kassidy Pothier kicked the conversion to tie the game at 22. In the closing minutes, the Cadets scored two penalty kicks to take the game 28-22.

  • The Yellow Jackets will continue their New Hampshire swing with a match at Dartmouth on Saturday, October 6 at 11 a.m.
