HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
Both teams kept the other off the board through the first three innings.
In the bottom of the fourth, graduate student Yami Lopez-Perez led things off with a single to the shortstop. Senior Jamie Mainez then doubled to right center and Lopez-Perez found her way to third. With one out, junior Kaley Kempf then singled to center and Lopez-Perez and Mainez both came around to score.
In the bottom of the fifth, junior Lydia DePina took a one-out walk to get things started for the Yellow Jackets. Freshman Bonnie Kennedy then laid down a great bunt that forced a bad throw and allowed DePina to move to third. With runners on the corners, the Dolphins threw to second to try and catch Kennedy stealing, but DePina took off on the throw and made it a 3-0 game.
Game 2:
The Dolphins started the second game much more aggressive. After back-to-back singles and a walk, the Dolphins scored their first run of the day on a fielder's choice to make it a 1-0 game. They went on to add one more on a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0 after a half inning.
In the top of the second, the Dolphins added one more run on a single through the left side with the bases loaded and one out. In their next at bat, the Dolphins added two runs on two hits to make it a 5-0 game.
The Yellow Jackets' bats started to wake up in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Lopez-Perez walked, then Mainez followed up with a double to right center that scored Lopez-Perez.
In the bottom of the fourth, Kempf started the inning with a single to right field. Senior Alexa DiLeo then took the Dolphins deep down the left field line to make it a 5-3 game. Unfortunately, that's the closest AIC would come, as it dropped the second game 5-3.
