HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Setters scored the first points of the game after receiving the ball on a Yellow Jacket turnover to take the 2-0 lead 45 seconds into the game. Watts started the AIC scoring with just more than a minute-and-a-half off the clock with a layup to tie the game at two. AIC took its first lead of the game at the seven-minute mark on a layup by junior guard Alyssa Guyon to make it a 6-5 game.
  • The Setters and Yellow Jackets battled back and forth, as with one minute left in the opening frame, the game was tied with neither team having reached a two-possession lead. At the end of the first quarter, the Yellow Jackets trailed on the road, 21-18.
  • The second quarter kept the fans excited as there were four lead changes and three ties in the first six minutes of the frame. Over the first two minutes of the quarter, the Yellow Jackets had swung the lead in their favor on a Guyon deep ball off a pass from freshman guard Ishanna Brown that made it a 25-23 game.
  • With 3:39 left in the half, the Setters went on a 6-0 run to extend their lead to seven, 38-31. AIC made a late-half charge to cut their deficit to one as the two teams went into the locker room at the break.
  • Just like the matchup earlier this season, the game remained close. The Setters scored first just 45 seconds into the half like they started the game. Guyon brought the game closer off an offensive rebound a little over 15 seconds later to make it a 42-41 game in favor of the home team.
  • Five minutes of the half had passed when the Setters held the 48-47 lead. Over the next three minutes, Pace went on an 8-2 run as they tried to expand their advantage. Brown made a layup for the Yellow Jackets as time expired to make it a 56-52 game with just one quarter left to play.
  • AIC came back and tied the game at 60 with just four minutes left in the game. After a Setter free throw, the Yellow Jackets took the 62-61 lead with 3:12 on the clock. Pace then went on a 9-2 run to take the 70-64 lead with just 30 seconds left in the game.
  • With 23 seconds left, Siders nailed a three to make it a one-possession game off a pass from junior forward Dana Watts. Every time AIC scored, the Setters would knock down the free throws as the Yellow Jackets tried to extend the game. Pace took the game 78-73.
