Women's rugby wins three-of-four at West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pennsylvania The American International College women's rugby team took the field in the West Chester 7s. The Yellow Jackets won their pool before falling to West Chester in the semifinals.

The Yellow Jackets opened the day against Bloomsburg. After being tied at the half, 5-5, the Yellow Jackets shutout the Huskies in the second half to win 15-5. Kayla Clark, Domonique Cammock, and Shanell Russo each had a try in the match.

AIC then took on Navy 2 in the second game of pool play. AIC held the Midshipmen off the board in the game as they won 22-0. Clark added two more tires to total for the day, while Cammock had one try, and Melissa Dessources had her first try of the tournament.

In the final pool play game, the Yellow Jackets took on the Black Knight 2 team of Army West Point. The Yellow Jackets were led by Russo, Cammock, and Jamila Davis in their 24-17 win over the Black Knights.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets advanced to the semifinals where they met the host Golden Rams. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets fells in the game by a score of 28-12.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action next weekend in the Bowdoin 7s tournament. The pools will be announced later this week.
