WATERBURY, Conn.- The American International College softball team earned its third win of the season on Friday afternoon against the Eagles of Post 2-1.
Jamie Mainez went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, and an RBI.
Sarah Beliveau pitched five innings to earn the win, while
Jillian Bedard shut out the Eagles in the final two boxes.
Mainez led the second inning off with a deep shot to left field to give the Yellow Jackets the 1-0 lead.
The Eagles got their lone run on the board in the bottom of the second. With one out, Devorin knocked a double down the left field line. Post's Cammarano singled up the middle to bring Devorin.
In the top of the sixth, Mainez put the ball into play as she sent it to the left center gap and ended up just 120 feet away from scoring.
Kayla Riley moved Mainez over to third on a ground out to second.
Jess Lingenberg singled to left to give the Yellow Jackets the 2-1 lead.
